Biography - Cédric Hémon

Born in Paris in 1983, Cédric Hémon is a French visual artist whose journey, both atypical and deeply human, forges a powerful and essential body of work. A former member of the French Special Forces, he draws on the intensity of reality and the confrontation with extremes as a raw material that he transforms through painting into a quest for meaning, resilience, and beauty.

He now lives in southwest France. Pont-Aven, a mecca of pictorial history, marked his childhood and remains a fundamental source of inspiration. In his works, he explores the emotional and psychological layers of human experience, bringing together intimate wounds and collective memory. His painting, vibrant, textured, and intensely symbolic, acts as a mirror to our vulnerabilities but also to our potential for transformation.

Assignment

A complete artist, he also invests in the cinematographic field with projects such as the short film "The Black Guide", an immersion in post-traumatic disorders and the symbolism of healing.

Today, Cédric Hémon's work is part of a process of transmission. Through art, he offers a space for reflection, identification, and transformation. His work, imbued with humanity and strength, resonates like a manifesto for life, despite its fractures.

Vision

Self-taught, he discovered art as a healing process. Each canvas becomes an act of reconstruction. He paints what cannot be expressed otherwise: inner silence, chaos, the light that emerges from the crack. His approach is direct, sincere, organic. It summons raw emotion, with a visual freedom that sometimes evokes abstract expressionism or art brut.

Artoverlay® is an artistic method that fuses photogram and pictorial gesture in a permanent tension between reality and emotion.

Led by Cédric Hémon, it draws on images taken from his own audiovisual productions, capturing raw moments of life, often marked by military experience.
Each work is a resurgence: a photogram, living raw material, is fractured, enhanced, transcended by physical or digital interventions.
Through its unique approach, Artoverlay® seeks to inscribe a real experience at the heart of pictorial expression. Each trace left is an extension of an experience, a memory, an inner shock.
